What Foxcroft homes are dealing with

Foxcroft’s housing stock runs mostly to the brick ranch era, single-story with low-to-moderate roof pitches and a fair amount of original wood trim still doing work on gable ends and dormers. On the ranches, siding is often confined to gables and small accent walls rather than full elevations, since the primary walls are brick. That changes the scope of a job here compared to a neighborhood built entirely with wood or vinyl-clad walls. It also means we’re frequently matching new material against a brick field, which takes more attention to trim detail and paint line than a full-elevation tear-off would.

The tree canopy in this part of northeast Foxcroft is heavy, and it doesn’t just fill gutters. Overhanging limbs keep siding damp longer after storms, especially on north- and east-facing walls that don’t get direct sun to dry out. That’s where we see the most rot at the bottom courses and around window sills. Grade and drainage matter too. Where a house sits low relative to the yard, or where downspouts discharge close to the foundation, the bottom two or three feet of siding takes the worst of it over time.
