An install starts with a walk of the roofline. We measure total linear footage, note every roof valley and where water concentrates at the eave, and check the fascia board condition before anything gets hung, because a gutter is only as good as what it’s screwed into. From there we size the gutter and downspout count to the roof area feeding each run, not a flat rule of thumb. Hanger spacing gets tightened up on any span that will see standing water or debris weight, which around here means most of them for at least part of the year.

Downspout placement gets decided by where the water needs to go, not where it’s easiest to drop a pipe. That means looking at grade, at whether there’s a bed or a walkway in the discharge path, and at whether an underground extension makes sense to move water further from the foundation.
